What are the ingredients in your CBD oil?
Our full spectrum CBD oil is extracted from the hemp we grow using organic coconut oil or MCT oil depending on the product (MCT is used in place of coconut oil for manufacturing tinctures). We do not use alcohol, CO2 or harsh solvents for extraction. Our tinctures are available in three great tasting options—cinnamon, chocolate mint, and unflavored

How does Sunsoil compare to other brands?
We're proud to say that our CBD represents the best of what is currently available on the market at a price that is both ethical and accessible for all CBD consumers. Our products are minimally processed and contain all-natural ingredients, including CBD derived from organic hemp we grow ourselves on our farm in Vermont. Triple third-party lab testing ensures purity and potency. Our products are available in tincture, salve and capsule forms.
Sunsoil is also one of the leaders in the industry when it comes to cost per mg of CBD. At just $0.05/mg for all of our products, it's one of the best values you can expect to encounter in the CBD space.

What is CBD?
CBD is an abbreviation for a chemical compound found in hemp and marijuana—two members of the cannabis family—called "cannabidiol." A naturally occurring molecule and phytocannabinoid first discovered in 1940, it is the most prominent and well-known cannabinoid outside of THC—the active chemical responsible for the "high" and euphoria associated with marijuana use. Despite how similar the two molecules are chemically, however, they differ functionally from one another by a wide margin. While effects can vary from user to user, many who are familiar with CBD believe its use can lead to feelings of calm and relaxation without the "high" or other uncomfortable side effects associated with marijuana.

Is CBD legal?
Yes. Hemp derived CBD products such as ours are legal in the United States.

Is CBD oil safe for my dog or pet?
Absolutely. We hear from many of our customers that using our salve or unflavored tincture has been very beneficial for their four-legged friends! Just check with your vet if your pet is on any medications to be sure that CBD will be safe for them.

Is it safe to take CBD with the medicine or supplements that I use?
Please refer to your doctor or health care provider for any questions about the safety of our product for you. If you use prescription medications, take supplements or have underlying health conditions that cause concern, check with a health care provider to make sure that our CBD oil will be safe for your use. We are always willing to discuss our product with your health care provider and provide any information they might require to accurately answer these questions for you.

Will CBD show up on my drug test?
Because our products may contain up to the legally allowed 0.3% THC limit per serving, we do not recommend taking CBD oil if you are subject to mandatory drug testing for employment or other reasons. Trace amounts of THC may trigger a false-positive for marijuana use on a drug test.

Can I travel with CBD?
Since hemp-derived CBD such as that which is in our products is legal in all 50 states at the federal level, traveling with CBD is completely legal and should pose no issues.

Will CBD get me high?
As CBD is non-intoxicating, it does not result in a high or intoxicate the user like tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC can (all Sunsoil products contain 0.3% or less THC). While much of THC’s psychoactivity has been attributed to its binding affinity for CB1 receptors, CBD has shown little binding affinity for either of the cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2). Much is left to uncover about the way CBD works in the body, but that studies that have been done indicate a wide range of areas to explore further, including modulatory roles at other receptor sites and ion channels throughout the body.

Why is lab testing important for CBD?
Because the CBD industry is not currently regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), companies are not required to test products for potency, nor is testing for pesticides, heavy metals and other undesirable compounds mandated. We strongly believe that our customers have a right to know what they are putting in their bodies—this is where lab testing comes in.  Our lab results are thorough, meticulous in what we test for and very easy to read.

Are Sunsoil’s products third party tested?
Yes. In addition to in-house lab testing, every batch of our CBD oil undergoes third-party verification from three different ISO-accredited labs, which guarantees results that are accurate, trustworthy and acceptable as the final word on our lab-tested CBD oil. This allows us to provide our customers with unbiased proof that our products are clean and potent, containing the highest-quality CBD oil available.

What method do you use for extraction?
We use a process called "lipid extraction" to pull cannabinoids from our organically farmed hemp in as natural and efficient a manner possible. Utilizing nothing more than our hemp crops, organic coconut or MCT oil and gentle heat, we're able to effectively extract CBD without the use of harsh solvents. Studies have shown that a lipid extraction process can increase the bioavailability of CBD is increased when it is consumed with a lipid.

Where does your hemp come from and how is it grown?
We grow all of our own organic hemp at Sunsoil on our farm in Vermont's beautiful Northeast Kingdom. Our hemp is USDA-Certified Organic. "Organic" on our farm means no pesticides or herbicides, no GMOs, soil-building through crop rotation, traceability from seed to shelf and soil nutrients derived from organic inputs. It's what makes our USDA-certified organic hemp crop the perfect source material for our full spectrum CBD oil.

What are the serving recommendations for Sunsoil products?
We use two different units of measurement to identify serving size for all of our products at Sunsoil; ml (milliliter) and mg (milligram).

Beginner Serving (10mg) — While serving size differs for everyone, we recommend beginners start with a bottle of 600mg Sunsoil Full Spectrum CBD Oil - Chocolate Mint, which contains (60) 10mg servings (each of which is 1ml).

Intermediate Serving (20mg) — Intermediate users or those who require additional relief can benefit from our 1200mg Sunsoil Full Spectrum CBD Oil - Cinnamon, which contains (60) 20mg servings of 1ml each. Alternatively, our capsules—each of which contains 20mg CBD—can be used.

Advanced Serving (20mg+) — Serving size can be increased as needed, depending upon the desired effects.

Each person is different, but the typical starting point for those who are new to using our products is one 20mg serving. Our tinctures come with graduated droppers that allow for precise servings so people can decide exactly how much CBD to try. With our cinnamon tincture, for example, someone who may be new to CBD can accurately choose a 5mg or a 10 mg serving size, or they can fill the dropper for a full 20 mg of CBD. We encourage people to wait four to six hours before trying another serving of CBD.

What is Full Spectrum CBD and how is it different from CBD Isolate and Broad Spectrum CBD?
One of the most important discretions that you can make when shopping for a CBD product comes down to three commonly used terms: "full spectrum", "isolate" (or "isolate-based") and "broad spectrum". The difference between the three is in their cannabinoid content and can be attributed to vastly different production methods.

Full Spectrum CBD — A more natural end product that contains trace amounts of additional cannabinoids, such as CBN, CBC, CBG and THC (at legal levels of 0.3% or less by volume).

CBD Isolate — A crystalline powder that is purified to approximately 99% CBD, with no residual plant matter, waxes or oils. CBD isolate does not contain traces of THC.

Broad Spectrum CBD — Broad spectrum CBD oil is simply a full spectrum product without any of the THC.

All Sunsoil CBD products are made with full spectrum hemp extract to take full advantage of the entourage effect—we never use CBD isolate in any of products.

What is the entourage effect?
First coined as a term in 1999 by Israeli researcher Raphael Mechoulam, "entourage effect" refers to the synergistic combining of numerous cannabinoids, such as THC, CBD, CBC, CBG and CBN. When all of these compounds combine, they interact with each other to create an effect that is more than the sum of its parts. CBD in particular benefits tremendously from the presence of trace amounts of THC, which is why Sunsoil only produces full spectrum CBD oil products.

How should I store my CBD oil?
We recommend our CBD capsules are kept cool or refrigerated. All of our products can be frozen or refrigerated for long-term storage or can be kept at room temperature. At temperatures above 74°F, the non-encapsulated oil (salve) will begin to melt. The oil will become paste like at 74°F and it will solidify as the temperature decreases.
